The PHR National Student Program is hosting three Regional Advocacy Institutes to help you become a more effective ambassador, advocate, and activist. Please join us!

If you’re not available on the day of the Institute in your region, please come to the one that best fits your schedule. For example, Chapters in the West and South are invited to join any of the above dates.

Regional Advocacy Institutes are free day-long workshops to help students build:

  • Skills: Learn how to educate your community, enlist the support of authorities, use the media, and plan and lead effective actions.
  • Knowledge: Hear speakers explain PHR’s current work in Asylum and Detention, the Campaign Against Torture, Burma, Health Access, and Health and Human Rights Education.
  • Confidence: Lead your human rights action with authority, up-to-date information, and conviction.
  • Connections: Create linkages with other passionate and dedicated health professional students.

The Institutes are planned and lead by PHR student leaders: the Regional Chapter Mentors, the Regional Training Coordinators, and the Student Advisory Board.

You’ll hear amazing speakers – both established health professionals who use their skills to defend human rights, and student advocates who will share their experiences. You’ll also have the chance to make plans with other students in your Chapter and region. Students are able to connect with each other, to share resources and spark new ideas.

Every year, students report being informed, inspired and energized at the Regional Advocacy Institutes. You walk in the door a passionate healthprofessional student – and you walk out a savvy human rights advocate.

Join us at a Regional Advocacy Institute! Develop the skills, knowledge, confidence and connections to become an effective catalyst for social and political change. Contact me with any questions. I look forward to seeing you there.
